CrushOn AI vs Candy AI
One platform is built around a huge roleplay library and switchable language models. The other makes chat, custom companions, images, five-second videos and live voice part of one visual product.

CrushOn AI and Candy AI both let adults select or create a fictional character and hold an ongoing roleplay conversation. Their priorities quickly diverge.
CrushOn AI is primarily a text roleplay system built around community characters, switchable language models, published context limits and unmetered base-model messages. Candy packages pre-made and custom companions with images, voice notes, five-second videos and beta live calls behind Premium plus tokens.
Candy includes unlimited Premium text and 100 monthly tokens, but media and calls consume those tokens. CrushOn separates free models from credit-consuming advanced models. A text-first user can stay free on CrushOn; Candy supplies the pictures, clips and calls CrushOn lacks.
CrushOn publishes model and context tiers. Candy publishes prices and media benefits but not a named model roster, context-window size or technical memory specification. This comparison marks those gaps instead of inventing numbers.
Current pricing and the real free tier
Candy's live subscription page showed one Premium feature set sold on several billing schedules when checked on October 18, 2026. The displayed US-dollar options were:
| Candy billing period | Displayed effective rate | Amount charged | Renewal |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 months | $3.99/month | $47.88 upfront | Same price and term unless cancelled |
| 3 months | $8.99/month | $26.97 upfront | Same price and term unless cancelled |
| 1 month | $9.99 first month | $9.99 first charge | Then $13.99/month until cancelled |
| 2 weeks | — | $9.79 | Every two weeks until cancelled |
| 1 week | — | $5.60 | Weekly until cancelled |
Local taxes can be added. The annual number is an equivalent rate: checkout charges $47.88 at once. Cancellation is available in Settings, with access continuing through the paid period.
Premium advertises unlimited text, custom companions, 18+ images and videos, Live Action, and 100 tokens per month. Media is not unlimited: current character interfaces display a five-second Scene Video at 12 tokens and a beta live call at 3 tokens per minute. Confirm the price shown before each action.
Candy's Terms of Service say a free user may generally send a maximum of five messages. Public profiles can be browsed, but unlimited chat, custom creation and Premium media features are Premium benefits. It is a product preview, not unlimited free chat.
CrushOn offers unlimited free-model messages, an 8K context tier, about 100 monthly Pro credits and limited stored history. Standard is $5.99/month, Premium $14.99/month and Luxe $39.99/month on the pricing breakdown. Paid tiers add persistence, context, group chat and higher model classes; advanced replies still consume credits.
Candy's annual effective rate beats CrushOn Standard month-to-month, but requires a year upfront and still meters media. CrushOn base-model text can stay free, while advanced models consume credits. Compare your actual monthly usage rather than unlike headline rates.

How credits and tokens change the cost
Both services mix subscriptions with an internal allowance, but the allowance buys different things.
On CrushOn, free models do not consume credits; Pro and Ultra models draw from a monthly allowance. A subscription unlocks context, persistence and model classes without making every advanced reply unmetered. A base-model user may pay zero while an advanced-model user buys a plan and credits.
On Candy, Premium makes text unlimited while tokens pay for images, voice notes, video and calls. At current displayed rates, eight 12-token Scene Videos use 96 tokens; a thirty-minute beta call uses 90. Candy can change these rates, so the confirmation screen controls.
Candy's terms add four details worth understanding before checkout:
- subscription tokens remaining when a paid period expires or is cancelled do not carry into a later resubscription;
- tokens cannot be transferred between accounts or exchanged for cash;
- subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled in Settings;
- the normal subscription refund window is 24 hours, and a request can be denied after more than 20 tokens have been used; token-package refunds require that no purchased tokens have been used. Card-purchase and EU/UK provisions add further conditions.
The practical comparison is advanced CrushOn replies per month versus Candy images, clips and call minutes per month.
Models and conversation control
CrushOn exposes model selection as a product feature. Its current documentation and site guides describe more than thirteen hosted options divided into free, Pro and Ultra classes, with switching available inside an existing conversation. That gives a user a direct way to compare how the same card behaves under a different model without rebuilding the character or restarting the scene. The models guide explains the cost and access tiers.
Candy takes the opposite public approach. Its product pages describe adaptive, personalized conversation, but its live subscription page and Terms of Service do not name the underlying chat models, publish a model count or promise mid-conversation switching. That does not show that Candy uses only one model. It means the public evidence does not support the old page's claim that it has a "single backend."
The consequence is control versus packaging. CrushOn exposes model and credit choices; Candy presents one companion product. Neither design proves better prose or reliability without a controlled test.
For dialogue tests, keep the character and opening constant and record the CrushOn model and Candy account status. Otherwise plan, card and context differences can masquerade as platform quality.
Memory and context
CrushOn publishes context figures: 8K on the free tier, 16K at Standard and up to 24K on higher tiers. It also provides memory tools such as pinned information, saved memories and World Cards, described in the site's memory guide. Those numbers do not guarantee that every fact is recalled, but they define the amount of recent conversation and supporting text the model can consider.
Candy says its companions adapt to a user's preferences and its character marketing refers to remembering details. Its public pricing, Terms and policy pages do not publish an equivalent context-window size, retention budget or named long-term-memory system. It would therefore be misleading to label Candy's memory "better," "worse" or "good within session" from documentation alone.
Measure the behaviour that matters. Give both characters three facts that differ in importance: a permanent preference, a temporary plan and a detail from a past event. Refer to them naturally after 10, 25 and 50 replies, then return in a new session. Note whether the character recalls the fact without prompting, invents a substitute or corrects itself when reminded. That result is more useful than a marketing adjective, and it makes Candy's unpublished specification testable.

Characters and creation tools
Both services support pre-made and custom characters, but discovery and authorship feel different on paper.
CrushOn is catalogue-first. Its community publishes character cards across many genres, and the platform reports a library in the millions. Quality varies because authors control definitions, example dialogue and opening scenarios. Strong cards can be unusually specific; thin cards can lose voice quickly. Creators can write behavioural rules and examples directly, then use Profile Cards and World Cards to define the user's role and reusable setting information. The character guide covers that workflow.
Candy is companion-first. Its official Terms say users can start with pre-made characters or generate their own by choosing attributes and characteristics. Current product pages show realistic and anime presentation and describe selecting appearance and personality before generating the companion. The subscription page places custom creation among Premium benefits. Images, video and voice then stay attached to that character experience rather than living as separate tools.
Candy's guided creator reduces blank-page authoring. CrushOn exposes more text controls and community cards: more unusual premises, but more searching and editing.
Create the same brief on both: profession, speaking rhythm, one boundary, one private goal and two example exchanges. Then compare revision, version and user-persona controls; those workflows matter more than catalogue size.
Images, video and voice
Media is Candy's clearest documented advantage. Its Terms explicitly define the service as text chat plus AI-generated images, videos and voice notes. Media can be generated on demand, and character profiles may also contain pre-made images or videos. The current Premium page advertises 18+ image and video generation, Live Action and custom companions.
The live character interface makes the video offer more concrete: Scene Video generates a five-second clip of the current moment and displays a cost of 12 tokens on the characters checked for this report. Video mode must be enabled, and the interface warns that image or video mode uses tokens. Candy also offers an AI Phone Call marked beta; the current confirmation panel displays 3 tokens per minute and requires microphone permission.
CrushOn does not provide built-in image or video generation and does not offer live calls. Its voice feature is text-to-speech: characters read generated messages using presets, with the number of presets and custom voices varying by plan. That can add performance to a text scene, but it is not the reciprocal conversation offered by Candy's beta call interface.
The simplest decision is:
- choose Candy if receiving character-consistent images, short scene clips or a live voice exchange is central to the product you want;
- choose CrushOn if text roleplay, model choice and a community-card ecosystem matter more than generated media;
- treat Candy's 100 monthly tokens as a starter media budget and calculate additional use before committing to an annual plan.
Feature availability does not establish quality. Test one ordinary scene across three image requests and two clips, recording token cost, rejections and continuity errors rather than selecting only the best result.

Devices, privacy and terms
Both products work in a desktop or mobile browser. CrushOn also distributes an Android APK and serves iPhone users through the web. Candy's interface offers an add-to-home-screen path for notifications, but its public plan page does not present that as proof of a native iOS or Android store app. Browser access is the comparable baseline.
Candy identifies its operator as EverAI Limited, registered in Malta, and the checkout says the card-statement descriptor is EverAI. That is useful practical information for anyone tracking a renewal. Its Terms say accounts are personal and non-transferable, the service is for personal non-commercial use, and access is not permitted from China or Singapore. Candy requires users to be at least 18 or the legal age in their location and uses an age gate; its Underage Policy describes possible additional checks where required.
The content license deserves a careful read. Candy's Terms say users retain ownership of their input, then grant EverAI a broad, worldwide, perpetual license to use submitted content in ways consistent with the Privacy Notice, including safety checks, product improvement, training and improving AI models, and marketing. The Community Guidelines say conversations or outputs flagged by safety controls may be reviewed and can lead to account action. The Underage Policy similarly says flagged content may be manually reviewed. "Private chat" should not be interpreted as end-to-end secrecy from the operator.
Candy's rules prohibit underage sexual content, non-consensual intimate imagery, images resembling real people, attempts to bypass moderation, extreme violence and other listed categories. CrushOn also has rules despite its unfiltered positioning; the site's 18+ notice summarizes the boundary. Read both current policies before paying because the word "unfiltered" is not a specification.
For either service, use a separate password, omit real names and contact details, upload only images you have rights to use, and review deletion and billing settings while the account is active.
A repeatable comparison test
This page does not claim a hands-on winner. Use the following thirty-minute protocol on the same day, and keep the prompts non-explicit so moderation differences do not dominate the result.
Create one shared brief: a fictional adult character who works irregular hours, dislikes crowds, speaks in short dry sentences and regrets missing an important train. Give the character one goal for tonight and give yourself a reusable user persona.
- Voice test. Send the same six-message opening. Mark when the speaking style becomes generic or the character writes actions for you.
- Constraint test. Suggest a crowded location. Score whether the stated dislike changes the response naturally rather than producing a mechanical refusal.
- Memory test. Mention the missed train in message three, then refer to "what happened at the station" after 10, 25 and 50 replies. Do not restate the event.
- Correction test. Correct one invented fact. A clean acknowledgment and durable correction are more valuable than never making an error in a short sample.
- Second-session test. Return the next day. Record which fixed traits, plans and event details survive without help.
- Media test. On Candy, request one ordinary portrait, one changed setting and one five-second Scene Video. Record every displayed token cost and failure. On CrushOn, test text-to-speech on the same two replies; do not score TTS as equivalent to image or video.
- Cost note. Record the CrushOn model and credits consumed, then the Candy tokens consumed. Estimate the cost of repeating that week four times.
After one weak result, regenerate once, then change only the definition, model or media prompt. This separates a bad seed from a persistent limitation.
Verdict
Choose CrushOn AI if your priority is text roleplay, a large community catalogue, explicit model choice, published context tiers, group scenes, or unlimited conversation without paying on base models. It gives technical users more visible controls and lets a text-first user avoid a subscription entirely.
Choose Candy AI if the companion needs to exist across chat, requested images, five-second videos, voice notes and live calls inside one interface. Candy is also the clearer fit for someone who prefers a guided character creator and one packaged chat experience over selecting among language models.
Budget matters differently. Candy's $3.99 headline requires a $47.88 annual payment, and its 100 monthly tokens limit media. CrushOn's text can stay free, while advanced models consume credits even on paid tiers. The cheaper service is the one whose metered layer you will use less.
Do not choose from dialogue or memory claims alone. Candy does not publish comparable technical specifications, and this report did not run a controlled benchmark. Test before buying a long term.
